How to use your Wee Knob
Real Scottish butter, made in small batches from grass-fed cream. Here are our favourite everyday ways to get the most out of every flavour, from quick breakfasts to proper Sunday dinners.

The everyday hero
Scottish Sea Salt
Great Taste 1★ 2026 · Scotland’s Best Dairy Product Finalist 2025
Rich, creamy and seasoned with Blackthorn salt. If it needs butter, it needs this one.
- Proper toast – spread it thick on warm sourdough, straight up.
- Silky scrambled eggs – start with a knob in a cold pan, low heat, and stir another in right at the end.
- Basting steak or scallops – for the last minute in the pan, tilt it and spoon the foaming butter over the top.
- Mash and new potatoes – beat a generous knob through mash, or toss through hot new potatoes with chives.
- Baking – use it anywhere a recipe asks for salted butter. Shortbread and scones love it.
Your midweek shortcut
Garlic & Herb
Great Taste 2★ 2023
Real garlic and a handful of herbs, already done for you. Our award winner and a chef favourite.
- Garlic bread in 10 minutes – split a baguette, spread generously and bake at 200°C until golden.
- Juicy roast chicken – push slices under the skin before it goes in the oven. It bastes the bird as it cooks.
- Garlic prawns or mushrooms – sizzle in a hot pan and pile onto toast with a squeeze of lemon.
- Jacket potatoes and greens – a knob on top does all the work.
- Steak night – slice onto a resting steak and let it melt into the juices.

Instant Italian
Sun-dried Tomato & Basil
Great Taste 1★ 2026
Sweet sun-dried tomato and fresh basil. A sauce in a slice.
- 5-minute pasta – stir a knob through hot spaghetti with a splash of pasta water, then finish with parmesan.
- Pan-fried fish – cook cod or salmon in it, then spoon the melted butter over to serve.
- Roasted veg – toss through courgettes, peppers or new potatoes as they come out of the oven.
- Next-level toasties – butter the outside of the bread before it hits the pan.
- Corn on the cob – melt it over hot corn. Barbecue sorted.
Your sweet tooth's best friend
Glenheather Honey & Cinnamon
Scottish heather honey with a gentle warmth of cinnamon. Breakfast will never be the same.
- Toast, crumpets and pancakes – spread it on while they’re piping hot so it melts in.
- French toast – fry your eggy bread in it, then add another knob on top.
- Porridge – stir a spoonful through just before serving.
- Honey-glazed carrots and parsnips – toss through roasting veg for the last 10 minutes.
- Baking – use in scones, cinnamon buns or banana bread for an extra layer of flavour.

A little bit of luxury
Truffle & Black Pepper
Real truffle and cracked black pepper. Turns a simple plate into a special occasion.
- Steak – top a resting steak with a slice and let it melt into a glossy, peppery sauce.
- Truffle fries – toss hot chips in melted truffle butter with grated parmesan.
- Mushroom risotto – beat a knob in at the very end for a rich, glossy finish.
- Creamy mash – swap your usual butter for a truffle-scented upgrade.
- Weekend eggs – melt over scrambled eggs on sourdough.
OUR CUSTOMERS SAY:
Good butter deserves the same respect and attention as any ingredient we stock in our kitchen. Glasgow’s Wee Knob Dairy’s butter has a lovely depth of flavour and is a perfect partner for our house bread, Cafe De Paris and Shellfish butter sauce. We’re proud to serve it at Bistro Eleven Fifty Five and support the people behind it.
